Our Hospital Buddy Program provides critical direct support that can improve healthcare outcomes for pediatric patients. Partnering with hospital staff, we pair college students with young patients to help alleviate the emotional effects of long-term hospitalization.

Hospital Buddy Program

Through our Hospital Buddy Program, children battling long-term illnesses, such as cancer, are matched with college student “buddies.” Buddies visit on a weekly basis and engage children in hospital playrooms and at bedside in arts and crafts, reading, games and more!

Comfort Kits

Once paired with a student, long-term patients and families will receive a StudentsCare Comfort Kit. We aim to provide high quality items that will provide comfort to children and their parents/caregivers during long hospital stays. Kits are assembled with love and care and filled with age appropriate toys/activities, toiletry items, cozy socks and hats, and various specialty gift cards, like Build-A-Bear, Amazon, iTunes, and Starbucks for an extra little treat for both parents and kids. All kits are hand delivered by our caring student volunteers.

Our Chapter Model

We create and sustain student chapters on college campuses to implement our Hospital Buddy Program. Each chapter elects student leaders to help coordinate volunteers, organize events, and manage chapter operations. Each chapter is supported by StudentsCare staff and all students are trained to understand the unique needs of hospitalized children.
