Iqra Ahmad is currently a senior at the University of Texas at Austin, studying biology. She learned about and joined StudentsCare during the COVID-19 pandemic, while looking for ways to volunteer and give back to the Austin community. She quickly realized that StudentsCare aligned with how she wanted to serve the community and was able to become the Treasurer and Buddy Booster of the chapter, helping organize events and fundraisers.
Her favorite part of StudentsCare is interacting with the children at the hospital in the playroom or engaging them in bedside crafts, reading, and games. She says, “volunteering with children or seniors allows one to build connections and become more empathetic to others’ needs. Throughout my volunteering experience, I have learned the importance of kindness and listening to others during difficult times.”
As chapter leader this upcoming year, she is excited to be working with the Nationals team and leading the UTA students on their journey of volunteering in the community.
Thank you, Iqra, for your hard work and dedication to StudentsCare and your chapter!
